Real Soap - Made from Plants.

A well-made, superfatted, artisan oil soap is the foundation of healthy skin.

If your skin feels parched, dehydrated, itchy, or flakey with what you’re currently using, or you’re simply looking for a truly natural soap, try a superfatted soap from my collection for about 1 month. It really can help!

Why? Because a well-made, super-fatted artisanal soap is proven to make a world of difference in how your skin functions and feels.

  • All varieties here are superfatted (superfatted means extra skin love) so choose based on scent!

  • All the varieties are made from at least half organic olive oil plus other organic seed oils and butters.

  • All are infused with wildflowers, leaves, roots, and fruits I’ve gathered from the mountain meadows surrounding my home and those that I’ve grown in my own garden.

  • Additional plant extracts for color

  • 13 varieties with essential oils for aroma, never synthetic fragrance.

  • Most are vegan. One is unscented for sensitive skin and babies.

2 sizes: large 4-ounce bars are listed here, to shop for my petite 1 oz bars go here.

MADE WITH CARE AND LOVE

A Brief Intro: Who needs real soap and why, scroll down for links to the whole story! It’s actually quite fascinating!

The true beauty of super-fatted, naturally glycerine rich, oil soaps lies in their unique, yet still mysterious, ability to not just gently cleanse, but actually nourish and restore the skin’s moisture barrier (the Acid Mantle)! Helping to keep it strong and resilient.

"Super-fatted" means that after the soap is fully cured, some oils and butters are not saponified.

Only artisanal, handmade oil soaps can be super-fatted.

Super-fatter soaps are, by far, the most conditioning soaps made today or at any time in the past.

BABIES NEED REAL SOAP! An artisanal, super-fatted soap is THE FOUNDATION of healthy skin from the very beginning of life to the very end. Period. The best gift you can give a new mom? Real Soap.

GUYS - TAKE NOTE! A well-made, super-fatted soap makes a REAL and noticeable difference in certain spots! My husband is a hard-working, journeyman carpenter - a long time ago when I started making soap and we both started using them, he told me they made a positive difference for him in a way in certain spots if you know what I mean.

DRY + PARCHED + DEHYDRATED?

If your skin often feels tight and parched, I encourage you to try a well-made super-fatted soap for one month for hand washing and bathing. Those with mild issues often find that just this one change in routine can improve mild problems.

WHAT’S IN MY ARTISAN SOAPS?

  • Each recipe is slightly different and includes some/all of the following organic butters and oils.

  • At least half Olive Oil, and just about all of them have a wild crafted component.

  • Scented with premium essential oils for a truly natural aroma. Never synthetic perfume or fragrance.

  • Infused with flowers and leaves gathered from the forests and meadows surrounding my home, and my own garden.

  • Made with love, lots and lots of love.

AND WHAT IS NOT …

  • NO synthetic fragrances

  • NO conventional, modified oils

  • NO sodium lauryl sulfate (or similar)

  • NO preservatives

  • NO GMOs or Parabens

  • NO conventional Palm Oil

  • NO petroleum products or synthetic dyes

ORGANIC OLIVE OIL:    A traditional oil used in soap, silky and mild, olive oil provides a "moisturized feel". Each recipe includes between 50-75% Organic Olive Oil.

ORGANIC SUNFLOWER OIL:    Soap made with raw, unrefined, unmodified sunflower oil for a light and clean feeling soap and one of THE VERY best skin care oils ever, period.

ORGANIC COCONUT OIL:   We all love big bubbles and lather! Coconut brings big, thick lather and fun bubbles to each recipe. - but not too much! Too much coconut oil in your soap is actually too cleansing - 100% coconut is not a good choice for a conditioning hand and body soap.

ORGANIC HEMP SEED OIL: Hemp seed oil is pressed from the seed of the hemp plant, and contains zero THC. It adds a unique skin feel and moisturizing effect.

ORGANIC SHEA NUT BUTTER: for skin conditioning.

ORGANIC CASTOR OIL: for deep cleansing.

SUSTAINABLE PALM: RSPO Certified Palm oil from South America; see below for details.

PREMIUM ESSENTIAL OILS (NEVER SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES) Listed below for each of my 14 varieties.

SKIN LOVING GLYCERINE! A byproduct of the saponification of fats and oils, glycerin heals, nourishes, and conditions our skin. My natural, botanical olive oil soaps also contain all of the natural glycerin created during the making of the soap. Commercial soap makers remove and sell glycerin (it’s valuable stuff!) You don’t see it on my ingredients list because I don't add any extra. But rest assured, it’s all in there! And that's a good thing cause glycerin heals, nourishes, and conditions our skin. Glycerin is entirely natural, AND it’s great for skin! it’s a Natural Moisture Factor present in our skin, it’s a gentle, safe and effective skincare ingredient. THE SELECTION

MANY THIEVES: Lemon, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Clove, Cinnamon. Kaolin Clay, Rhassoul Clay, Activated Charcoal, Iron Oxide, Ultramarine pigment, Aspen leaves.

CITRUS SORBET (with aloe vera and shea butter): Sweet Orange and Ylang Ylang.

LAVENDER LEMONGRASS (OCT. 16, I’ve removed this variant but it will be available again at some point - I need to revisit the formula) Lavender + Lemongrass, plus some Mica for sparkle. My most lightly scented soap I made for my mother many years ago and one of my all-time favorites. Made with the most olive oil. Note: the color and scent of this soap will shift over time. When the soap is fully cured and first cut into bars it will have a more peach color. As it ages over a month or so the color darkens a bit and shifts to more pink. the aroma changes a bit too, the lavender and lemongrass scent will become more noticeable too.

LEMONGRASS + SAGE (with aloe vera and shea butter): lemongrass and Dalmatian sage. One of my best sellers.

LAVENDER FLOWERS (with shea butter): Lavender essential oil and Lavender blossoms.

MOUNTAIN LAUREL (with aloe vera and shea butter): Enhanced with just May Chang essential oil! (aka Litsea Cubeba) a most delightful citrus scent and one of my favorite essential oils.

MOUNTAIN MEADOW (with aloe vera): Lavender, Lemongrass, Palmarosa, Cedarwood, Geranium, Clary Sage.

HONEY OAT and GOAT aka OATMEAL + MILK + HONEY (with aloe vera):  Organic oats, local Honey, fresh goat's milk, vanilla essential oil. A best seller.

PINE DROPS: Fir, pine and spruce needle essential oils and crushed local evergreen needles. Not just a scent for the holidays, if you love the high alpine forest you’ll love it all year round cause it makes the whole bathroom smell like that place after a summer rain. I made this one special for my mountain man, Jeff.

TEA TREE + MINT (with aloe vera and shea butter): Tea Tree, Mint and Cajeput with wild mountain (and my garden) mint leaves. Cajeput is a relative of Tea Tree.

WILD MOUNTAIN ROSE (with aloe vera and shea butter): Geranium, Rose, Palmarosa, Rose Absolute plus Pink Clay. With wild Rose petals and Rose Hip Powder which I collect and crush to add a blush of color - a top seller with a feminine appeal!

WILD FOREST (with aloe vera and shea butter): Colorado Lavender and Fir Needle. This aroma was once described as “a lovely lady scented with lavender, sitting in a forest glen”.

WOODS WALK (with shea butter): Frankincense, Myrrh, Vanilla essential oil. Named for everyone’s favorite Crested Butte trail right above town. I was married to my husband, Jeff, among the aspens and wildflowers there. One of my best sellers. Earthy and woodsy, it’s one that guys really like and I love it too!

100% Olive Oil Unscented. LIMITED SUPPLIES! Experience a traditional Castile soap. Great for those who prefer a soap without essential oils, those with very sensitive skin, and babies. Just a clean soap scent. Made in really tiny batches.

  • Today’s artisan soap makers, with the right skill and ingredients, are able to craft really nice conditioning soaps thanks in large part to technology and the unbelievable variety of vegetable seed oils and seed butters available from all over the world with which to craft them.

Back in the old days, soap was usually quite harsh. The makers did not have accurate scales or standardized hydroxy salts (lye). To ensure that the time, resources and effort invested in that bar of soap was not wasted, more lye was used than was actually needed, and the term "lye heavy" soap was coined. These rustic soaps were quite harsh and really good at getting laundry clean and were used primarily for household chores. If you bathed, and not everyone did very often at least, you used this this soap whether you liked it or not - it made your skin red and got you really clean!

My soaps are old-fashioned but made better - accurate scales, SAP calculators, and standardized hydroxy salts (lye) provide me the means to create lovely, super-fatted, oil soaps that are NOT harsh. Being super-fatter they actually soften, condition and nourish the skin.

ALL of the soaps here are suitable for your entire body! Faces too!

  • Super-fatted soaps have a little extra love to give! They contain a little bit more oils than you would include in a bar made for household chores.

After a super-fatted soap is fully, a little extra oil remains - and this is one of the many benefits of a well crafted, handmade soap. Super-fatted soaps are especially nourishing and conditioning.

  • ONLY natural, handmade oil soaps can be Super-Fatted. All the soap options here are "Super-fatted". Super-fatted soaps are very tricky to make well! This is where skill and experience come to bear.

Just like a well burning candle is no accident and how it performs depends on the skill, training and expertise of the candlemaker, a well made super-fatted soap is no accident! Not all artisan soap is made equal. And just like how well a candle burns is up to the skill and knowledge of the user, so too do our habits and routines play a role in how well my soap will perform and how long it will last.

Super-Fatted soaps are a must for washing our skin. Relying on a soap like this always will give us the best long term results (improved skin function!).

FAIR TRADE, SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL FROM SOUTH AMERICA: With global demand for palm oil surging large-scale palm oil plantations are not sustainable and contribute to widespread deforestation. Palm oil is very difficult to replace in bar soaps as it imparts the hardness necessary for a high-quality bar of soap. Because of the high amounts of olive oil used to create my “super-fatted” soap, a tiny bit of palm oil is included in order to create a hard bar of soap that will last a long time. I get my certified sustainable palm here: “Our palm oil is from Colombia, which in contrast to what happens in other countries that have to use virgin land to cultivate the palms, in Colombia the land used for the last 80 years, has been used for farming and livestock specifically for stock-breeding, so it is plain land that was used for stock-breeding only and today the cows and livestock are still there but with palms now, and always without any intervention to the natural ecosystems. Our oil comes from Colombia, where there is no harm to any animal or forest. On the contrary, there has been always a sustainable integration with livestock and palms, where this type of palms are. There is an equilibrium with nature, and the biodiversity is protected
